Artist Statement

I am a self taught artist with a love of color. My interests are varied which is reflected in my work. I normally work on representational and abstract paintings simultaneously and enjoy the freedom going from one thought process to another. In my representational paintings I view my work as an expression of my own view of the visible world. I try to see a place or object in a personal way and express this through form and color. My abstract paintings are often constructions that begin without a plan but seem to complete themselves with me left to interpret and title them.

I paint primarily with acrylic, but have done some recent watercolor paintings.

At its best the painting process is a spiritual flow of color and movement. Other times involve a struggle and working out the puzzle. The results in both cases involve satisfaction and occasional amazement.
